The Committee for Integrity Enhancement presents its 27th Essay Contest Awards Program on Monday, April 15, 7:00 p.m. at Northside Middle School Auditorium. More than 1,120 Delaware County students in grades 4 through 12 wrote essays on the topic “How do I demonstrate integrity in the way I give my time, talent or money?” Winning students in the Elementary, Middle, and High School Divisions receive cash prizes: $250 for First Place; $150 for Second Place; $100 for Third Place.
C.I.E. will also present the Personal Integrity Awards recognizing Delaware County residents who have distinguished themselves as individuals of high principles and good character.
This year’s keynote speaker is Kelsey Timmerman, the New York Times Bestselling author of WHERE AM I WEARING? A Global Tour to the Countries, Factories, and People That Make Our Clothes and WHERE AM I EATING? An Adventure Through the Global Food Economy. His newest book is WHERE AM I GIVING? A Global Adventure Exploring How to Use Your Gifts and Talents to Make a Difference. He has visited more than 150 universities, schools, and communities to share his stories.
Kelsey has spent the last decade helping people share their stories. His writing has appeared in publications such as the Christian Science Monitor, TIME magazine, and has aired on NPR. Kelsey is also the co-founder of the Facing Project, which seeks to connect people through stories to strengthen community. He has spent the night in Castle Dracula in Romania, played PlayStation in Kosovo, farmed on four continents, taught an island village to play baseball in Honduras, and in another life, worked as a SCUBA instructor in Key West, Florida. Whether in print or in person he seeks to connect people around the world.
Copies of his book will be available for sale and autographing following the program. The public is welcome.
